Helicopter Lift
FHS has designed a helicopter lift for installation on private yachts, which raises and lowers a helicopter from the landing deck to a stowage position.
4 lifting columns hydraulically move a platform about 5.4 m from the lower deck to the landing deck. The principle is provided by a pull cylinder with approx. 2700 mm stroke. Due to the arrangement of 4 traction cables, which are connected to the pull cylinder and the lifting columns, and simultaneous use of a pulley, a transmission ratio of 1:2 is achieved, so that the movement of the platform is a max. of 5400 mm.
The installation of the pull cylinder in the platform between the frames saves space and the cylinders can be reached via a maintenance flap from the top and from the bottom.
The lift has 3 operating states:
- Normal operation, where the control functions are carried out electrically via controls that have a dead-man switch.
- Emergency operation, which works in the event of electrical component failure or hose breakage by using an emergency pump with a separate circuit and corresponding shut-off valves. Emergency operation is possible without electrical supply or with defective hydraulic components on the hydraulic unit or on the basic hydraulic piping.
- Emergency lowering, where an emergency valve lowers the platform without electrical or hydraulic power.
The system is tested before delivery and installation on the ship and is classified as being fit for intensive use and requiring low maintenance.
