Since the central lock is not installed in the door itself but in the door frame, the door remains "light"; this lower dead weight is a significant advantage, especially in heavy seas.

The standard FHS VG door is designed for "one-hand operation", and only requires necessary hand forces <200 N, meaning that FHS VG doors can be operated in any situation, by anyone.

An overpressure safety device prevents the door from opening uncontrollably due to any over-pressurization that might occur in the ship.

Installed test screws in the lower part of the door can be loosened to check for ingress of water in the room behind the door without water entering the relevant area.

The door can be equipped with a viewing window, which in turn is provided with a sea shock panel and/or with a blackout panel. The box lock is suitable for receiving a DIN cylinder. The door position can be monitored on the bridge.

Door openers or door closers are optional.

The FHS standard sizes (clear opening) are: 1800 x 800 mm, 1800 x 600 mm, 1750 x 800 mm 1750 x 600 mm, 800 x 600 mm, 660 x 660 mm. Of course, special sizes are possible on request.
